Is this an emergency, or can it wait until Monday?

Call now, whatever the hour, for: no heat when it is genuinely cold, no cooling in a heat wave with anyone vulnerable in the house, water actively coming in, a sewage backup, or any smell of gas. Those get worse and some of them get expensive fast. It can usually wait for a scheduled slot if it is one room uncomfortable, a slow drain, a noise that has not changed, or a system that is working but not well. When you genuinely cannot tell, call and describe it, and expect a straight answer rather than a truck.

What should every homeowner know how to turn off?

Four things, and the time to find them is not during the emergency. The main water shutoff, usually where the line enters the basement or crawl space. The gas shutoff at the meter, and which way it turns. The breaker for the furnace or air handler. And the furnace switch itself, which looks like a light switch and gets knocked off more often than anything else on this list. Find all four this weekend and check that they actually move.

I have been told I need a new system. Should I get another opinion?

If the recommendation arrived without a diagnosis you understood, yes. A replacement recommendation should come with a specific reason: a cracked heat exchanger, a failed compressor, a repair quote approaching a third of replacement cost on a system past its expected life. Those are checkable. What is not a reason on its own is the age of the equipment, and a second opinion costs a service call against a decision that runs into thousands. Anyone confident in the first answer will not mind you getting it.

We rent the place out. Does that change anything?

It changes who needs to know what. Whoever holds the account should be the person who can approve work, or every visit stalls waiting for a phone call. It is worth agreeing in advance what a technician can proceed with without asking, because a no-heat call at 9pm on a Friday is a bad time to discover nobody can authorize a part. Keep the service records: they matter for the warranty and they matter when a tenant says something was never fixed.

How do I book a visit?

Call (844) 584-7399 and you get a person, or book online in about a minute. If it's no heat, no cooling in a heat wave, or water where it shouldn't be, call rather than booking. That goes straight to the 24/7 line. The Beavercreek office also takes calls direct on (937) 431-7399.
